1.8 SkyWars UPDATE

Hey everyone,

after a long wait, we are happy to present you with an update for our 1.8 variant of SkyWars. You can expect Kit Spotlight Days, new features in the waiting lobby and in the game as well as some new as well as old, returning maps.

New features in the waiting lobby

Kit Spotlight-Days

As in EnderGames, you now have the ability to test kits in SkyWars as well before you buy them. For each player, a randomly selected kit will be in the spotlight for 48 hours. In the waiting lobby, you will find an NPC that symbolizes the corresponding kit and that you can use to call up the kit menu directly. Just like EnderGames, the Spotlight kits always changes at 16:00 and offers the following advantages:
  • If you do not own the kit, you can use it 3 times for free
  • The kits' price is lowered by 20%
  • When playing with the kit, you get a coin boost of +50%


Information in the waiting lobby, which kit the teammate has selected

We've added the ability for you to see which kit your teammate has selected for that round while being in the waiting lobby when you enter a team round. Also, if you use the /setkit command and enter a round as a party, you will see the kits that all players on the team have selected when you enter the round. This is to simplify communication before the start of the round so that there are fewer misunderstandings about kit selection.



Chat message when a player joins your team

Until now, there was no way of knowing if or when a player would join your team in a team round, without having the team menu opened all the time. From now on, you will get a message in the chat when a player joins your team. Additionally, you will get to know which kit your teammate has chosen at that time and how many slots are still available in your team. If a player leaves your team, you will also receive a chat message.




New features during the round

CutClean

Similar to CWSW, SkyWars now also drops the respective ingot directly when you mine gold or iron ore with the corresponding pickaxe. This will save you additional time and effort, and the available resources on the maps can be used more efficiently.

Stackable healing potions

Also adopted from CWSW, you can now finally stack individual healing potions on one slot in SkyWars. The current system, where you could sometimes combine two stacks, has been removed, and it is now only possible to combine a stack of a maximum of 4 healing potions in one slot. This change was made so that you can't stack all your healing potions in one slot with little effort and thus always have enough healing in your hotbar.

Enchanting Table can only be destroyed after the protection time is over

To counteract the trend of dismantling the Enchanting Table at the beginning of the protection time and taking it with you, you can now dismantle it only after the protection time has expired, so that all players have the possibility to enchant armor and sword during the protection time.


Regular changes of the map pool

In order to make SkyWars more diversified, we would like to rotate the map pool more frequently and temporarily remove current maps from the map pool, as well as return old maps to the map pool. That means if maybe your favorite map has just been removed from the map pool, it can be added back to the map pool in the next map rotation and thus rotate with other maps. This should make the currently very large map pool of SkyWars a bit more manageable again and ensure the high demand for new or returning maps. Nevertheless, we have made sure that the most popular maps are not affected by these rotations.
